Dating Safety
Bloom Dating, Inc.
Your safety matters to us. Please read this important information before using Bloom.
Criminal Background Check Disclosure
Bloom does not currently conduct criminal background screenings on its members. This means we have not verified the criminal history of any person who uses the Service. While background checks may help inform your decision to meet someone, they have significant limitations — criminal records are not always accurate or complete, and the absence of a criminal record does not guarantee a person's character or behavior.
You should always exercise caution when communicating with or meeting anyone through an online dating service, including Bloom.
Online Dating Safety Awareness
Meeting new people through a dating service involves risk. You are interacting with strangers, and not everyone may be who they claim to be. The following information is provided to help you protect yourself.
Protecting Yourself from Sexual Assault and Dating Violence
- Non-consensual sexual activity is a crime regardless of the circumstances, including when a person is incapacitated by alcohol or drugs.
- People may misrepresent themselves. A person's online profile may not accurately reflect who they are. Photos may be outdated, and information may be false.
- Meet in public. For the first several meetings with someone new, choose well-lit, populated public places. Do not meet at a private residence.
- Tell someone where you are going. Share your plans — including who you are meeting, where, and when — with a trusted friend or family member.
- Arrange your own transportation. Drive yourself or use a rideshare service so you can leave on your own terms.
- Stay sober and alert. Limit alcohol consumption, especially in early meetings. Never leave your drink unattended.
- Trust your instincts. If something feels wrong, leave. You are never obligated to stay in a situation that makes you uncomfortable.
- Do not share your home address or other identifying personal information (workplace address, daily routine) until you have established trust over time.
- Video chat before meeting in person. A video call can help verify that the person matches their profile.
If you experience sexual assault or dating violence:
- Call 911 if you are in immediate danger

Protecting Yourself from Financial Crimes
- Never send money to someone you have met through an online dating service, regardless of the reason they give.
- Be wary of requests for financial help. Common romance scam tactics include claims of medical emergencies, travel expenses to visit you, business opportunities, military deployment, or being stranded overseas.
- Do not share financial information such as bank account numbers, credit card numbers, Social Security numbers, or login credentials with anyone you meet online.
- Be cautious of people who quickly profess strong feelings or push for a committed relationship before you have met in person.
- Watch for inconsistencies in stories, photos, or personal details — these may indicate a fake profile.
- People may use false profiles to build trust and then exploit you financially. This is sometimes called a "romance scam."
- Cryptocurrency and wire transfer requests are red flags. These payment methods are difficult or impossible to reverse.
- If you are asked for money, stop communicating and report the user immediately through the app or by emailing safety@bloom.date.
If you believe you are a victim of a financial crime:

Reporting
If a user engages in behavior that makes you feel unsafe, violates our Community Guidelines, or appears to be fraudulent, you can:
- Report in-app: Tap the report button on any user's profile or in any conversation
- Email: safety@bloom.date
- Contact law enforcement if you believe you are in danger
We review all reports and take appropriate action, which may include warnings, content removal, temporary suspension, or permanent account bans. If we ban a user for fraudulent activity, we will notify members who communicated with that user within 24 hours.
